Many of the following questions are asked frequently by potentionial and
current customers. We hope that this information gives you a greater insight
into our business. If you have a question that we have not answered
on this page, please call us at 616-846-4330 or email us at info@galebuilders.com.
1.
Will
I have direct access to Jeff Gale throughout the building process?
Yes. Jeff Gale is the contractor for every home that Gale Builders builds.
Jeff Gale will visit your home site often and be familiar with each detail
of the process. He will be accessible on a daily basis by calling the
main office and be transferred by the office administrator.
2.
What should I expect in a first meeting?
Your first meeting with Gale Builders will be spent discussing your dream
home visions. Sometimes this means that you already have a blueprint or
you have some general ideas in your head. We will use these visions to
assess the feasibility of your dream home plans compared to your budgetary
requirements.
3.
How can I best describe my expectations and vision for a home?
The best thing that you can do is prepare yourself with as many pictures
and ideas that meet your vision. We recommend that you read a few books
on planning your new home and gather as many magazine clippings that show
architectural details and interiors that you like. Additionally, talk
with people that have went through the building process and ask them for
personal stories about their experience. These stories will allow you
to gage your expectations and communicate them to Gale Builders by means
of questions.
4.
How often should I visit the construction site?
Some homeowners wish to visit the site once a day. Others prefer to not
be as involved. Gale Builders is very flexible in allowing you to be as
involved as you wish to. Throughout the home building process, Gale Builders
will have scheduled meetings with you at the site. These meetings will
be used to refine the requirements of such things as electrical, plumbing,
and kitchen. These are great opportunities to discuss any questions that
you have and bring up any specific detail that has not been discussed
already. If at any time throughout the project, you have a questions or
wish to meet at the site, Gale Builders can be reached at their office
and scheduled for a meeting time.
5.
How much time does the building process take of me?
Besides the daily/weekly visits and occasional walk-throughs at the site,
a great deal of time can be spent in choosing the finishing selections
of the home. There are thousands of selections that go into the construction
of a new home, and each selection must be clearly specified and understood
by both parties. These selections include
- trim
- door
- cabinet
- floors:
hardwood, carpet, tile, vinyl
- major
appliances
- plumbing
fixtures
- light
fixtures
- counter
tops
- mirrors
- shower
doors
- security
systems
- hardware:
door knobs
- towel
bars and toilet paper holders
6.
How do I request a change or alteration during the building process?
You may first ask, what constitutes a change or alteration. A change or
alteration is anything through the process of building the home that looks
like it will require additional time and/or money to make the change occur.
A change does not always occur after you see something you don't prefer
in the home, it may be something that will be taking place in the next
week or so of the project. If there is ever a change that you wish to
see made in the home, simply contact the Gale Builder office or Jeff Gale
directly to discuss the change. Gale Builders will need to discuss this
change with you and discuss any implications this has on the current budget.
7.
Does Gale Builders require that we use specific kitchen and bath suppliers?
No. Gale Builders is more than happy to make recommendations, but does
not require that you use specific vendors for such things as kitchen cabinets,
lighting fixtures, and plumbing fixtures.
